Preaction System is a type of fire suppression system that combines features of both wet and dry systems for enhanced protection. It is designed to prevent accidental discharge of water, ensuring that water is only released when a fire is confirmed. The system works by holding water in the pipes under pressure until two conditions are met: activation of both a smoke or heat detector and a system valve, which triggers the release of water into the pipes.
Once the preaction system is activated, the water is released to flow through the pipes and activate the sprinklers, suppressing the fire. This type of system is typically used in environments where accidental water discharge could cause significant damage, such as data centers, museums, and archives. It offers an added level of safety by requiring multiple triggers to prevent unintended activation while still ensuring effective fire suppression.
